The Fisher Wallace Stimulator is an FDA-approved cranial electrical stimulation (CES) system. This unit includes the control box, leads with plastic casings for the sponges, a pack of 12 sponges, and a headband, all in a travel case. This system has been designed to be a gentler CES or TENS-type unit than others on the market. Many CES systems clip on to the ear and can be very irritating to the user. The Fisher Wallace uses dampened sponges placed behind the temples, allowing the intensity of the current to be much lower and much gentler for the user.
The Fisher Wallace, like other CES systems, works by blocking or redirecting pain signals, while stimulating the production of GABA, serotonin, and endorphins in the brain. The system is to be used to help alleviate depression, anxiety, insomnia, spasticity, stress, and chronic and acute pain, and also to increase attention, concentration, alertness, and improve cognitive activity. As with most medications, it can take up to 2 weeks to experience results from this therapy. This unit requires a prescription to purchase.
